This week was great. On Wednesday, we hosted Andrew and Emily (almost Wimer) for dinner. We baked up some salmon, roasted some potatoes, and steamed some french beans. There may have been some wine involved too :) It was great to spend some time with them before they tie the knot (which is in 6 days!)
Friday Tyler and I had a night in and watched Hereafter on Netflix. I think he liked it. I thought it was weird and had no real point. I'll usually watch anything with Matt Damon in it, but this one was a big disappointment.
Tyler unfortunately had to work on Saturday, but I was happy to have control over the TV - I watched Matilda, Casper, Hocus Pocus, and old Are You Afraid Of The Dark episodes - all while baking some tasty Halloween cookies from scratch! They turned out pretty darn cute, if I say so myself.
It actually got me really excited for the holiday season - I love cutting out sugar cookies all year, but Christmas shapes are definitely my favorite. Oh man, there will be sugar cookies, spritz cookies, fudge, homemade chex mix, rum cake... I mean, who doesn't love holiday baking?! However, you gotta take it one holiday at a time. Christmas is already everywhere. It takes up half the store in Hobby Lobby!
Tyler and I have decided that our yearly gathering will be a Halloween party. Unfortunately, with the move into the house, we weren't able to host this year but you can count on 2012! The official name is the "Stock Spook" and yes it DOES rhyme because our last name isn't stock, it's stewww-k. It will of course be a costume party! And we'll have tasty foods, fun drinks, and cash prizes for things like best costume. There will also be a MarioKart tournament, and a bonfire outside. Aren't you so excited already? :)
Tomorrow we plan on hanging out and watching the Chiefs with some friends. I did buy a bunch of candy though, for the trick-or-treaters. We don't have any immediate neighbors with kids (they're actually both really old), but there are plenty in the neighborhood. So, I pray we do get some because it'll be trouble if Tyler and I have to eat this whole bucket of sugar ourselves.
We baked a delicious pasta casserole for dinner tonight. There's nothing better than a big, carb-loaded dinner on Sunday nights that gives you lots of leftovers for the week. Doesn't this look tasty?
Excited for a 4 day week coming up! I get to start celebrating Emily and Andrew's wedding weekend Friday morning with a bridal luncheon! Can't wait to be a part of their big day! Hope these 4 days go fast!
You all enjoy your Sunday evening, and have a blessed week!
